New partnership between C&C Reservoirs and IFP
For Immediate Release 3rd of May 2006 -
C&C Reservoirs is launching the new
Structural Analogs Module (SAM) of DIGITAL ANALOGS Knowledge
System (DAKS ) that provides direct web access to the
comprehensive structural analog models developed by IFP
C&C Reservoirs and IFP today announced the signing of a partnership agreement that allows addition of
a new component, Structural Analogs Module (SAM), to the web-based DIGITAL ANALOGS Knowledge
System (DAKS). DAKS provides a platform for E&P geoscientists and engineers to easily, quickly and
affordably access data, information and analysis on more than a thousand of the world's most important fields and
reservoirs. By incorporating into this database more than 300 physical structural analog models acquired through
the last decades by IFP, the new module (SAM) will give the industry new insight for an enhanced decision
making process in the E&P workflow.
"The Structural Analogs Module incorporates years of research conducted in our lab with sand box experiments.
I am delighted to see that this wealth of information will now be available at a click of a mouse to assist the
geoscientists in their quest for a better assessment of the subsurface." said Gérard Friès, Manager of IFP
Exploration &Production Technology Business Unit and Deputy Manager of IFP.
"The newly developed Structural Analogs Module provides a unique and extensive set of digital structural analog
models resulting from decades of rigorous research at IFP. C&C Reservoirs is very proud of the successful
joint venture and release of SAM with IFP. As a new component of DAKS, which has been adopted by
more than 30 companies worldwide, SAM has been seamlessly integrated with the field and reservoirs analogs and
will definitely help geoscientists to get the critical knowledge, information and data through analogs for their
decision making." said Dr. S. Qing Sun, Managing Director of C&C Reservoirs.
About IFP
IFP is a research and industrial development, training and information services center active in the fields of
oil and gas, their use (in particular by vehicles), and the new energy as well as environmental technologies
(production of fuels from biomass, biofuels, hydrogen, the capture and storage of CO2, etc.). In an international
energy context marked by major challenges - renewing petroleum reserves, broadening the energy mix and combating
climate change. IFP's vocation is to innovate, develop and transfer the technologies that will make it
possible to supply enough energy to meet growing global needs, especially in the transportation and petrochemical
sectors, lastingly and without harm to the environment, for the rest of the 21st century. Find our sustainable

About C&C Reservoirs
C&C Reservoirs is the premier provider of high-quality reservoir and field analogs to the upstream petroleum
industry through its state-of-the-art, Web-deliverable DIGITAL ANALOGS Knowledge
System (DAKS). We are a group of highly trained and educated explorationists and reservoir geologists
having more than 300 years' aggregate experience gained with majors, large independents and integrated service
companies. DAKS provides the E&P decision-makers with a systematic and cost-effective way to apply analog data to
validate their play concept, ground their field development plan and benchmark their field performance.
This knowledge-based system distills the experience gained by geologists and reservoir engineers during the course of
finding and developing more than a thousand of the world's most important fields and reservoirs.
